Sometimes, making a full British Sunday lunch with a roast just isn't feasible; not enough time or simply after a busy working week, too tired. Yet, Sunday without lunch and certainly without Yorkshire Puddings is unthinkable.
This step-by-step easy Sunday lunch menu needs 45 minutes advance preparation in the morning, then just one hour to have it on the table.
Prawn Cocktail is a light and easy starter and takes only moments to prepare. No need to give up Yorkshire Puddings with Toad in the Hole: the meat (sausages) are cooked in with the puddings. As there is no roast meat in this menu there will be no meat juices for gravy, instead make a simple and quick onion gravy. No Sunday lunch is complete without pudding and they don't come any easier, or tastier, than a quick, easy, Apple Mouse.
The new potatoes are easy to cook. After washing, place into a pan of cold water with a pinch of salt. Cover the pan with a lid and boil gently until the potatoes are soft in the middle when pierced with a sharp knife. For the broccoli, I always prefer to steam for 8 - 10 minutes over a pan of boiling water as this is the best way to preserve the vital nutrients.
