In the run up to the Malton Food Festival, as part of the Global Kitchen theme within the Year 9 curriculum a competition was held. Over 100 students took part.
The competition was to create awareness of current issues which influence food choice, to include consumer needs for providing good quality, British and locally produced food and food products.
Students were asked to identify locally produced foods and use these to create a two course meal – main course and dessert. All work was judged on agreed criteria by staff in school and the top five menus were cooked in school.
