2008 has been a difficult year for both farmers and food producers in the UK but all that was forgotten last night in Birmingham at the 'Oscars' of the food and farming world, The BBC Food and Farming Awards. The awards are promoted through the Food Programme on BBC Radio 4 presented by Sheila Dillon.
"In these financially and environmentally chaotic times there’s never been a more important time to honor our food producers, retailers, cooks and campaigners," said Sheila, "these award winners have all been helping to keep alive the tradition of the best local and sustainable food. They are a model for the future."
