 July 4th in Britain

July 4th may be just another day here in the UK but I'm sure we are all aware of its significance in the US - apart from it being the time for everyone to dust down the barbecue, get out the flags, party, and fireworks. On a couple of occasions I have been lucky enough to be in the US for July 4th and had a blast, they know how to party.

Food is an important part of July 4th events and on the menu expect to find American classics; burgers, hot dogs, coleslaw, potato salad. No 4th July party in the US is complete without an apple pie and chocolate brownies. Red, white and blue is the theme of the day and that includes the food

If you are American living here, or elsewhere, have a fantastic day.

(1) LondonFerne says:

A popular red, white and blue recipe for the fourth is a a combination of blue berries and strawberries with ice cream or whipped cream. Also red, white and blue is a fruit salad with strawberries, blue berries and sliced bananas. As you may have guessed, blueberries are essential. Blue berry pie (or huckleberry pie as they sometimes call it when made with wild blue berries) is more popular than apple pie in some quarters at this time of year.
