One of my fondest childhood 'cooking' memories; my mum making a Baked Egg Custard Tart. It was, and still is one of my favorite British foods.
Baked Egg Custard, or Custard Tart as it is also known, is not the most fashionable of English tarts but it should be. The mixture of eggs, cream, vanilla and a generous layer of freshly grated nutmeg cooked in pastry is simply delicious and just one bite of the wobbly custard filling is the stuff dreams are made of. Yum.
