Friday is traditionally the day to eat fish. In our house we often enjoy Fish and Chips for dinner but this week it is going to be a Traditional Fish Pie. It's not really a pie as such, (there's no crust) but a mixture of fresh fish (and prawns if you like) in a creamy sauce topped with fluffy, mashed potatoes.
Fish Pie has seen something of a revival in these credit crunch times. It is a great way to get fresh fish into your diet and can be cheap to make if you beg your fishmonger for the end bits and fish off-cuts.
As you can see in this Fish Pie Recipe with fish, leeks, milk, butter and potatoes, a Fish Pie is an all-in-one supper dish. I like to serve it with peas or other fresh greens but this is optional.
What a great way to start the weekend.
