Out in North Yorkshire yesterday, I stopped at a local farm shop and was delighted to see a huge pile of home-grown outdoor rhubarb. Having failed with my own crop this year it was exciting to this on offer, why? Because I want to get on and make the delicious Rhubarb Chutney which is a huge favourite in this house.
This super easy Rhubarb chutney was given to me by my good friend Irene Myers for my rhubarb book. The recipe belonged to her mother-in-law Anne Smith and making the chutney is now a Smith family tradition passed on to granddaughters Annabel and Abigail, as well as Irene herself.
The Rhubarb chutney is a great partner to a pork pie and no self-respecting British Cheese would be complete without a good dollop.
Oh, the plopping in the title - this is the sound the chutney makes as it cooks.
