As we head towards the last bank holiday weekend of the year, it means autumn will soon be upon us and guess what follows that.... Christmas. It is never too soon to think about the preparations, which always start with the Christmas cake. September is a really good time to make the cake as it gives the cake plenty of time to mature, and to be fed with brandy and rum to further enhance the flavours.
